It Would Be Perjury to Say I Like Surgery

Yesterday I saw a deep fem-posterior tibial bypass graft. It was cool - but a 6 hour surgery. My hunch muscles are s-o-r-e.

Today I work a half day and then drive up to Charlotte to see Ten! She has 2 friends visiting from out of town, and last night they went to the Willie Nelson/John Mellencamp/Bob Dylan concert. Today I will try my hardest to conceal my jealousy.

Conversation in the OR two days ago:

Important Surgeon Man: Where are you from?
EFC: Louisiana
ISM: Louisiana?!? Did you disclose that on your application?
EFC: Actually, no, because I was a Vermont resident when I applied.
ISM: That's what I thought. We wouldn't let in ANYONE from LOUISIANA!
EFC:

You should have taken the scalpel out of his hand and offered to slit your own throat for him right then and there. I think that's what etiquette calls for in that situation. Or you should have asked him how many years in New England one has to spend before the Louisiana wears off. Seriously WTF?!?!?????

That is so unfair about Louisiana. What about the famous doctors from Louisiana like--no, wait, he may have been right.
